I just want to point out to people that you can easily fulfil the 'show implants and drugs' criteria by just showing your character sheet on the augmentations page either before, during (if you're checking drug effects) or after a fight. So if you just remember to open that while looting/warping off & before you stop recording, you should be covered. |

Jayne, I can try give you a few thoughts that spring to mind after watching the few minutes of your stream around that time-mark.
Micromanagement-wise, indeed you might just want a little more practice in that ship, in how large the cap injection is compared to base cap, the reload & cycle time of it, in always having an AAR pre-heated due to the unique bonuses it has, and in things like taking drugs. I'd not run active hardeners until there is actually something shooting/bombing you that you're likely to actually take armour damage in that second. That ~200 cap could be what you need on such a ship in such a fight. I'd not fly an active-tanked armour fit Gal hull without a damage control. There's the RAH to consider.
As for shooting an SFI, I'd have looked to see if you could see an invuln or sebo effect, because dual prop armour ones are so small and fast they're like insanely tanky frigs that track almost as well too(I think I'd always use faction AM against them when up close). If you had a hint he wouldn't have an AB, it'd be much better for you. Also, did you try cycle your mwd to see if he has a scram or long point? If you saw an armour rep effect, or his armour recover, then the neuting is probably a good call, else I think you'd want to save that cap cost for your dps & tank.
IDK about aggroing a SFI at 0km on a null-null gate if you don't know what's on the other side. TBH if it's a blob, you haven't kited the SFI away, so they can be right on you if you aggro and they jump through anyway, so why not look and leave the SFI behind for a minute with aggro. The cane landing right on you is your cue to lay into it with void & OH at ~1km(whatever just inside optimal is). You should have range dictation over it, unlike vs the SFI which was tanking you, and can probably be expected to.
IDK why you tried to shoot the drones, initially you seemed to do a decent volley or 2 to the SFI's armour, it looked promising that you could break it, and you learnt you could tank him on ~1 rep, and his drones aren't much of his dps, nor of the overall should the cane join the combat soon after. |

Interesting that Miz would put your medium drones on his drones, whereas I'd value how well they hit a scram+webbed small target like the SFI |

You make it sound like you assume it's a 1v1 active tanked drawn out fight. How would the SFI ever kill anything by aggroing someone at 0km on a gate, unless he has friends the other side, or thought you'd jumped into him/isn't thinking such things through. And I didn't look if the cane was the same ticker/obviously friendly to the SFI, but I'd assume he's likely to come over & get involved.
A medium smartbomb (smalls are bad iirc) can chase off/kill dps drones as well as EC ones. And a nos can help, especially with the mechanics changes so if you can expect your absolute cap level to be run down, it'll help you and hurt the other guy, moreso than previously comparing a brutix cap quantity to a minmatar cruiser's. |

Oh, and basically never warp to 0km on an unknown nullsec gate in a brawler. Try find a celestial in dscan range to take a peek from. If you'd hit a stop/drag bubble you could be miles off gate and longpointed by kiters. Sure if there's an interdictor & some decloak cans you might want to end up on a bubble edge with them trying to scram you so you have a chance at a shiny kill, but they shouldn't got for a brutix, more likely they'll cloak or kite you too.
Else, you could try the old: go somewhere safe, run reps & warp-cancel to non-aligned things to burn your cap down, then try & fail to warp the whole way to the gate to make a dscan spot. BM it, and let your cap regen before possibly getting into combat. It's a tedious process. When you get to know an area, the locals, and make BMs you'll have to do this much less. Roaming it in an interceptor first could help a lot, even if you don't feel confident in a frig & avoid fights. |

AFAIK Darknesss was never involved. If he wants to donate, I'm sure Aldap and Mizhir will be interested in having that conversation with him
I hope the rest of the judges are aware of the workload this will potentially require, as we will endeavour to thoroughly asset the supplied fights, and will use ingame and API tools to review BRs and things you mention, such as the opponent's estimated/expected SP ballpark and/or combat experience. Though typically this comes across in the footage itself, and factoring in that everyone can make mistakes is a part of PvP decisions.
And once again, this isn't some free-for-all, submissions aren't being accepted in an autonomous manner, actual people will review each & ever one so there's no need to keep bringing up things about peoples' small gang/blob endeavours. This is about solo combat ships |

I'd rather people like God's Coldblood came out of retirement and also somehow found a way to e.g. brawl in bling BSs again such that he could enter the contest, rather than judge it, but maybe that's just me |

Record to a different drive. Specifically drive, not just a different partition which could be the same physical device even if it appears under a different drive letter in Windows. This should move any IO bottleneck from the 1 device to possibly your motherboard, RAM, or CPU if it then still can't cope.
It sounds like your recording software is possibly trying to do on-the-fly compression/encoding. While this can save you file space and some time later, it could be more than your setup can handle in realtime. |

FWIW there's a way to turn VLC into a 1-click screen capture app, with options about how it compresses/transcodes on the fly before it hits your drive.
For the record, I ended up using 20fps, 5000vbr settings at last use, before my Win7 install died. |

It certainly counts. I may be biased, but the first example that springs to mind is from 8mins into Logan's recent Used and Abused vid, an AB Sac vs drake, falcon, 2 basis, thorax, hookbill, cynabal. 2minutes of accelerated footage, intense struggling and eventual break-out & escape, for no kills. |

Eve-files had a drive corruption issue, we're in communication with them and considering our options, w.r.t. alternative hosts & the extra time it may take people to account for this complication. No doubt Miz will update this thread as things progress. |

The fight and the submission has to happen before the deadline. If the footage part of the submission is a day or two delayed, that's probably fine, we won't be able to review them all instantly anyway.
I'd guess that several files wouldn't be a problem, but if you merge them, could you also give the exact timestamps of the split points, aka the length of the original segments? |

The end of the 27th, by Eve/UTC, seems to be the most reasonable final time to choose. I could be wrong, but I don't know why a few hours more past the downtime until the midnight would cause any issue. But mail asap if you think your full submission would not be done in time, declare your fight details as requested, the upload of the video footage would have some leeway. |

Patience. There's over 100 submissions. If they're each just 3mins long(some are 15mins+), and we give them 2 watches, that's 10hours solid of material to view, and all/the vast majority of the judges need to find this time before we then have our final list, and then Miz can make the compilation. If it's ~10mins to review & comment on & rank 1 submission, that's 1000mins aka 17 hours of work, each. |

Found a few minutes to give Miz & the team more feedback on their progress this week. We seem to be at ~9/15 edits done/well under way. Feel free to throw more track suggestions our way.
Keep up the great work Miz!

Sigh, what's with some of you people and the need to find drama?
Miz is human, and this is an unpaid voluntary project for a video game hobby. I'm pretty sure most of the negative commentators are on the sidelines without even having a horse in the contest race so to speak. They didn't want that prize isk anyway, right? Too good at solo pvp to need the respect or attention? Please shush.
I'm actually very optimistic with what the new guy has already done & skills he's shown. A few evemail forwards of people's submissions and we sidestep any need for Miz to have or directly share any media files if it's even a delaying issue.
Things are looking up I just wish I could edit vids effectively. |

I'd like to caution against the notion that Miz is working flatout on this. I'm pretty sure he's explained he's not, what with RL and general variation in motivation. Thus it's unrealistic to set or imply an expectation that he's put in 3months of free time's editing. Ease the pressure |

I'd like to clear up a few things:
The original plan was a 3month window for fight capture. The judges were only asked to judge, with no obligation to assist the subsequent edit process. This was proposed as simply being the short duration following the original 3month window. Yes, many judges are known for their vids, but this was chiefly Aldap & Miz's production. Issues with submissions & Eve-files extended the capture window to 4months. 120 fights were submitted. Thousands of man-hours of free time were required from the judges to compare these to get a final 15. Yet more comparison was required for the final prize awarding.
Then we have 15 very different fight PoVs, with different UIs, different tempo engagements, different kinds of details to highlight. Both to explain why they were judged for being good examples of solo pvp, and also for entertainment of watching. Each fight needs to have a playback rate or rates found to make it more watchable than in realtime, and then music to be found to match each clip.
This leads to 15 fights that need to be put in a sequence that also flows, to give consistency to the added UI, and non-jarring transitions.
All this while Aldap had to leave Eve completely for RL events, Miz had focus on his RL education (Spring & Summer being disproportionately critical), and everyone in general struggles to sustain motivation & interest as it takes time, and non-helpful people complain about it taking time. AFAIK it also took some extra, experienced people and some learning on Miz's part to achieve some of the editing results he strived for.
Prizes were awarded once we realised the vid would be very delayed, so as to not inconvenience the winners any longer. Many billions of isk handed out, with no issues, no scam.
So finally it's done, for free, instead of Miz & others choosing to just undock and have their own fights & fun so many times over the past year.
That is the true context of it all, as far as I'm aware. Hopefully it will serve the ambitious triple purpose of being entertaining, justifying the awarding of the prizes, and most of all: of inspiring players new & old to try & find out how well they can succeed at solo pvp in Eve. |

So:
If you think you could have fought better than these players, why didn't you submit an entry of you doing so and win mad isk?
If you think you could have produced a better video, why don't you use your wallet, reputation & spare time to run such a project and release your own edition? |
